IceFighter features: what awaits you as an ice hockey manager

Collect them all. Play them out.

You take over an ice hockey club and are coach and manager at the same time. You set up the lines, fine-tune the training plan, negotiate with sponsors, expand the arena and sit live on the bench in the evening when your team takes to the ice. IceFighter has been running for free in the browser for more than 15 years, with no download. A season lasts one month, a game about 30 minutes in real time. In the end, the title goes to whoever manages most cleverly.

Anyone who has ever stood in the stands at the Hannover Indians knows the feeling: a tying goal in the final minute, and everyone jumps up. It's no different at the Eisbären Berlin, or at any other club your heart beats for. IceFighter brings nights like these to your screen. The difference: this time you make the calls on the bench.

At 11:15 pm the fan shop opens, and your fans go shopping while you sleep.

1st period: Game day

Game day#01/20
A full ice hockey arena from above: two teams in play, referees on the ice, spectators in the stands

Live game in real time

You sit on the bench. Live.

Live game in real time#01

No result is fixed in advance. Every game runs in real time, about 30 minutes from the opening face-off to the final siren. You follow every scene via ticker, timeline and TV and step in directly: you change lines, use the power play, open up in attack or shut things down at the back. If you are one goal down shortly before the end, you pull the goalie and go all in. With Premium you see the scenes of your own games on video: goals, saves, power plays and face-offs appear in the video cube the moment they happen on the ice.

Game of the day

The top game of the night. On video, for everyone.

Game of the day#02

Every evening one match becomes the game of the day. Anyone can follow it completely on video, even without Premium. In the arena view, the video cube with the score hangs above the ice, goals, penalties and saves run along the LED boards, and the red goal light flashes with every goal. The pressure bar shows which team is currently in control. One click on the timeline takes you to the scene you want.

Strategy & tactics

Eight sliders. Endless truths.

Strategy & tactics#03

The bench is where you find out who's got what it takes. Eight sliders decide how your team plays, among them fighting spirit, fair play and physical play. Even the spectators and cheerleaders join in. How much toughness your team can handle, and when it costs more energy than it brings, isn't written in any table. You have to find that out for yourself. Your strategy also affects how fresh your players are, and that decides whether your team can still step it up in the final period or falls apart. In four memory slots you store settings for different game situations.

2nd period: Team

Team#04/20
A coach with a whistle watches two players training between cones on the ice

Training

Every club has its secrets.

Training#04

The training plan is your daily homework. You choose between team, line and individual training, plus sessions such as penalty training, power play or conditioning runs. Which session really does your team good is a little different at every club and in every season. Every training report reveals a little more. Whoever sees through the system gets the best out of their squad every day. Whoever wants a shortcut hires the training advisor, who knows the answers.

Players on an outdoor rink in front of snowy mountains and a wooden chalet

Training camp

Off to the mountains, into shape.

Training camp#05

Up to three times a season you take the team to the mountains. A day at training camp brings two sessions and still saves more energy than a normal game day. When you go is a tactical question: before an important phase of the season the camp can tip the balance, at the wrong moment it is wasted.

Transfer market & auction house

Discover talents. Sign veterans.

Transfer market & auction house#06

If you want to play at the top, you need a strong squad. On the transfer market you buy young talents or experienced veterans and let go of players who are too old or no longer deliver. With the youth coach you bring up your own youngsters. In the auction house you bid on specialists such as the motivation coach, the ice master or the training advisor. Keep an eye on the wages: good pros cost good money, and a team thrown together in a hurry empties the club's coffers faster than you'd like.

Coaching staff in a meeting: one coach draws on the tactics board, three colleagues work at the table with laptops

Your coaching staff

Behind every win there's a team.

Your coaching staff#07

The staff includes an assistant coach, team doctor, legal department, insurance and a spy. If the posts are well filled, your club keeps running even when you're not online. The assistant coach handles the line changes, the doctor and legal department shorten absences, and the spy takes a look at the opponent's hand before the opening face-off.

Stadium expansion

From ice rink to arena.

Stadium expansion#08

In six expansion stages, the little ice rink around the corner becomes a big arena. The stadium visibly grows with it, and every home game brings more money into the coffers. Ice maintenance, staff and TV rights are your business too.

WorldCup

Every month. Knockout. Under the floodlights.

WorldCup#15

The WorldCup is the biggest trophy in the game. Every second game day there is a knockout game at 8:15 pm. Every round is a final, and every win brings a bonus. Around 40 percent of all teams take part. Three quarters of the sporting places are awarded via the regular season: first by league position, then by points, then by goal difference. The last quarter goes to the best point hunters of the world ranking who would otherwise miss out. Leagues 1 to 4, teams with full Premium and teams with a WC wildcard are seeded. You can see who has qualified live on the qualification page at any time.

A bright hall of fame with jerseys and trophies on the walls

World ranking

Three leaderboards. A place in history.

World ranking#16

The world ranking consists of three leaderboards for three kinds of managers. For the point hunters, the points from every game in league, playoffs and WorldCup count, and in higher leagues every point is worth more. For the richest, the club value from account, shares, stock and squad counts; savings bucks are left out. The all-time best collect across all seasons, and the top 10 receive a place in the hall of fame and the laurel wreath.

Clans

Stronger together. Every night.

Clans#17

Found a clan with friends or join one. At 9:15 pm you play in your own clan leagues with 6 to 12 teams. On top of that there is the clan tournament and the clan versus clan duel. Wins bring glory for the clan ranking, and with the clan treasury you expand your clan house all the way to the hall of fame.

1-to-1 fights

Not enough yet? Throw down the gauntlet.

1-to-1 fights#18

Not enough hockey for today? At 10:15 pm you challenge a team of your choice or post an open challenge that anyone can accept. A 1-to-1 costs your players neither freshness nor form or fitness. That makes it a good test game for new line-ups and tactics before it counts in the league.
